Alright, so as I’m building my online business and finding my way through the digital landscape with a machete the size of my arm, I’m doing a lot of reflecting. More than I have ever done before in my life.
Even when I started out with My Laptop Lifestyle Design, I thought I’d just be learning a few skills, become a marketing ninja and everything would be dandy.
Well… uhm, no. Not only is there work to be done in the business, there is constantly work to be done between the ears. And it’s probably even more important than the physical stuff.
Money doesn’t buy happiness
We’ve all heard the saying ‚money doesn’t buy happiness’. I absolutely agree with that (although I do think it’s a tool that reeaaally helps making your life easier). But if you are unhappy now, you’ll also be unhappy with millions in the bank.
Because if it’s all about the money and you don’t do any work to improve your mental strength, you take the person you are now, with you to the future. It doesn’t matter if you’re on that perfect, tropical beach, sipping a cocktail, you’ll experience it the same way you would now.

But if you are unhappy now, you’ll also be unhappy with millions in the bank. Because if it’s all about the money and you don’t do any work to improve your mental strength, you take the person you are now, with you to the future.
You won’t suddenly change once you have financial success
If you’re pessimistic, you’ll still complain about the beach being too sandy. If you’re insecure, you’ll still wonder what people will think of you. And if you’re unhappy, you’ll just be an unhappy person on a pretty beach.
‘Cause you can put a diamond ring on a monkey, it’s still a monkey.
Mental Strength vs. Physical Health
We tend to perceive mental strength very differently from physical strength, although they are very similar in how to achieve and maintain them.
If you wanted to be physically strong, you’d have to go to the gym and lift weights. But if you really wanted to see results, you’d also have to give up on eating junk food.
Mental strength is the same.
If you want to be mentally strong, you need to give up your bad habits and unsupportive beliefs, practice gratitude instead of envy and observe, don’t judge.
And just like physical strength, this is a journey. There is no pill you can take to make it all happen overnight. You’ll have to be honest with yourself and do the work to create breakthroughs within yourself.
Getting to the core and fix it
Which is really what you want. You want to feel great throughout your life, instead of focusing on quick fixes that just put a band-aid on the problem.
It needs time for that to happen and for the changes you make in your life – the unsupportive habits and beliefs you have let go – to be sustainable.
