Let me just put it this way. How many things have you bought that you are still extremely happy with 10 years later?
Well for me that was just about ehm.. nothing, nada, zippo.
BUT, I’m so very happy with the memories and experiences I got from traveling, even from years back. Because traveling is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.
You have SO much fun, you learn a crazy amount about yourself (the good and the bad) and you meet the most amazing people!
I know I’m probably preaching to the choir here but trust me, I have a point.
1. Life is short, too short, and sometimes really crappy
I know, a bit of a dark way to start, right? What I mean by this is, life, in many ways, is stressful, frustrating and not going your way 99% of the time, which is why we have to seek out the beauty ourselves as much as we can.
It is never the perfect moment to do something, (we all know this, hello procrastination!) but before you know it you’re complaining about your back ache and why the kids from the block won’t get off of your lawn.
You’ll regret not traveling out of circumstances or fear when you could have done so.
2. Break the routine and invite the unpredictable in!
Most of our lives are made up of habits and routines. So if you always work from Monday to Friday, and always watch Netflix in the evening, and always sleep in on a Sunday, how likely is it to feel anything other than entirely predictable feelings that are just fine and okay?
When you’re traveling, you could wake up on a beach, talked all night with people from 5 different countries and witness awesomeness like you’ve never experienced before.
It can totally reinvigorate your senses, recharge you, change the way you see the world and fall madly back in love with life.
3. You Are Not What You Do
Yes, ambition, striving for success and being proud of your work is important. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, so if I’m not learning, growing or moving forward, I feel horrible and useless.
What I am saying is that you have to have balance, remember that you work to live, you do NOT live to work. I’m blessed to have found a way that allows me to contribute and earn, and not having to give up on my location or time freedom.
From my experience
Travel has made me become more open-minded but most importantly, more present and mindful, focusing on the joy to be found from one moment to the next.
Because of my mentors, I’m able to create a life and a business that I love, with all the training, tools, resources, support and an amazing community that they provide.
